Everyone’s favorite theme park treat gets turned into a popcorn snack with this churro popcorn loaded with cinnamon, sugar and white chocolate.
Do you love churros? Do you love popcorn? How about popcorn coated in sweet white chocolate? Well this snack is a combination of all of the above. And it is divine.
Who doesn’t love a churro? Their cinnamony-sugary goodness the stuff dreams are made of. Now I know you can make churros at home, but this snack is so much easier. All you have to do is pop some popcorn, drizzle it with a cinnamon sugar butter and toss it with melted white chocolate over the top and then BAM. Each bite tastes like a churro.
Let’s talk about what you’ll need to make it.
White Chocolate Churro Ingredients:
POPCORN: Yellow, white or purple kernels will work for this recipe. Don’t use the smaller varieties because they won’t hold up to the melted chocolate.
BUTTER: You can use salted or unsalted. If you use salted, you might not need to add any additional salt.
SUGAR/CINNAMON: The classic seasoning on churros.
WHITE CHOCOLATE: Use your favorite white chocolate, I used Ghirardelli.
SALT: Adding a bit of saltiness will bring out the flavor of all the ingredients.
Step by Step Photos and Instructions:
Making this White Chocolate Churro Popcorn is SO easy. The hardest part about making it will be waiting for the chocolate to harden before you start snacking.
STEP #1: Pop popcorn according to package directions.
STEP #2: Combine the melted butter, cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl. Whisk until well combined.
STEP #3: Place white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second increments. Stir until smooth.
STEP #4: Place popcorn in a large bowl. Drizzle the cinnamon/sugar butter over the the top. Use a spatula to stir the the popcorn to coat in the butter.
STEP #5: Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the top. Use a spatula to toss the popcorn in the chocolate to coat completely.
STEP #6: Line a 10×15 baking sheet (Or two smaller baking sheets) with parchment paper. Spread the popcorn out in a thin layer, sprinkle with salt and allow to harden. This will take 5 – 10 minutes.
Storage and Leftovers:
This popcorn is best eaten the day that it is made. If you have any leftovers, store in a resealable plastic bag and eat within a day or two for the freshest snack.
