Disclosure: I was given a copy of “Two Peas & Their Pod: Favorite Everyday Recipes from Our Kitchen” for review. All opinions are my own.
Throughout my years of blogging, I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of really wonderful people. And those wonderful, talented people often do some pretty awesome things! When that happens I will often get the opportunity to share it with you, just like I am doing today.
Maria from Two Peas and Their Pod, just released her first cookbook and I couldn’t be happier for her. The book titled “Two Peas & Their Pod Cookbook: Favorite Everyday Recipes from Our Family Kitchen” is chock-full of tons of recipes.
You’ll find sections for breakfast, appetizers, salads, Meat and Fish Main Dishes, and vegetarian main dishes. And of course, if you know anything about Maria, she’s a cookie connoisseur so of course cookies get a chapter all to themselves.
There is also a section full of helpful tips on becoming a confident home cook and another with tips for easy entertaining.
Not to mention the pictures are absolutely gorgeous too.
With so many amazing recipes in this cookbook, it was tough picking which one to choose to share with you today. After talking to the kiddos, we decided that Cinnamon Streusel French Toast was the way to go.
And we weren’t wrong. It was amazing.
How do you make this Easy Cinnamon Streusel French Toast?
Like many of the recipes in this cookbook, this Cinnamon Streusel French Toast comes together very easily with just a few steps!
Make the streusel topping by combining cinnamon, butter and sugar together in a bowl. Simply rubbing the mixture between your fingers until crumbly.
Melt the butter on the heated griddle or skillet. Dip the bread in the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides evenly. Let some of the excess drain off, then place the bread slices on the hot griddle pan or in the hot skillet. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your griddle or pan.
Top each slice of bread with about 1 tablespoon cinnamon streusel. Cook until browned on the first side, 2 – 3 minutes. Flip and cook until the second side is golden brown 2 – 3 minutes.
Transfer the French toast slices to a plate with the streusel side facing up. Sprinkle with an extra pinch of streusel while the French toast is still hot so it can melt. Repeat with the remaining batches, adding more butter to the griddle or pan if needed.
What is the best bread to use for French toast?
One of the things that I like best about this cookbook, is that several of the recipes have notes that will help you as you’re cooking. For this french toast recipe, Maria says that although other breads will work, brioche really makes it much more special.
I have to say, I agree.
What do you put on top of french toast?
Obviously, I’m going to go with maple syrup.
Because of the cinnamon topping, some sautéed apples would also be pretty amazing on this.
My entire family loved this Cinnamon Streusel French Toast. And that’s just one of the fabulous recipes in this book. There are so many more. I’m going to say that the Two Peas & Their Pod Cookbook is a must have for the upcoming holiday season. I’ve already got it on my list to give to a couple people in my life! Preheat a griddle pan or large skillet over medium-high heat, or an electric griddle to 350 degrees.
Make the streusel topping: In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon and butter. Rub mixture between your pointer finger and thumb until the butter forms pea-sized pieces. Set aside.
Make the French Toast: In a shallow dish, use a fork or whisk to beat together the eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon.
Serve with butter and maple syrup.

Hey, just a little tip: Mix the Vanilla extract and Cinnamon into a paste. Let it “hydrate” for a couple of minutes, and then mix it with the cold milk. Whisk until it is fully incorporated. Mix together all of the other ingredients as written. You will be surprised the cinnamon will be distributed throughout the mixture instead of sitting on top. It is called a colloid. A big fancy term for a suspension of some dispersed insoluble or soluble substance in a liquid. It means it’s all mixed together. Send the WOW factor to the moon.
Oh! Totally going to try that next time! Thank you for the tip!
