Creamy Taco Sauce is a quick and easy way to jazz up your tacos. This creamy sauce is great on fish tacos, nachos, taco salads and more.
Around here every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday. Whether I am making Shrimp Tacos, Crispy Fish Tacos, Beef Taquitos or Steak Tacos, if it’s Tuesday, you can bet that tacos are on the menu.
Eating tacos so often means that I am always on the lookout for ways to jazz things up a bit. Make things a little different. That is where making different sauces to spoon over the tacos comes in handy. This Creamy Taco Sauce is my latest creation and one of our current favorites.
SOUR CREAM: This is the bulk of the sauce. I wouldn’t recommend using fat free sour cream. You really want the creaminess that regular sour cream brings.
MAYONNAISE: The oil in the mayo thickens the sauce and makes it a bit creamier.
TACO SEASONING: You can make your own homemade Taco Seasoning or use your favorite store bought blend.
LIME JUICE: The acidity brightens up the sauce.
SALT: Depending on the taco seasoning you use, you may or may not need to add additional salt. Make sure you taste the sauce before adding.
OMG. It could not be easier to make. You literally put everything in a bowl and whisk. Or stir or whatever you want to call it. Just mix the ingredients until they are mixed well and voila! Creamy Taco Sauce.
How’s that for quick and easy?
You can even make this in advance if you like! Even just 30 minutes ahead of time will give the flavors plenty of chances to mingle.
As I said above, you’re going to want to use this sauce on all the taco things. But, it was so good that I even used it as a dip for homemade tortilla chips. It is that good!
Making your own condiments and dressings is one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen! If you want to make more of your own sauces, try these:
Habanero Hot Sauce is great if you love heat! And I mean heat, there are TEN habaneros in it!
Peppercorn Steak Sauce is a MUST when trying to fancy up your steak at home. It will rival any steakhouse.
Homemade Caesar Dressing is easier to make than you think and you probably have all of the ingredients on hand!
