This recipe for Broiled Cajun Shrimp is quick and easy. Only 5 ingredients and ready in 30 minutes! Perfect for weeknights!
You know what kind of recipes I love? The kind of recipes that have under 5 ingredients and can be ready in about 30 minutes. It is even better when they are packed with flavor like these Broiled Cajun Shrimp.
The shrimp is a bit sweet, the Cajun seasoning has a bit of a kick and the lemon adds a bit of bright citrus flavor. You are going to fall head over heels in love with this quick and easy dinner.
Let’s talk about what you’ll need to make it.
Broiled Cajun Shrimp Ingredients:
You only need FIVE ingredients (the 5th is parsley which is just a garnish) to make this dish. How easy is that??
SHRIMP: This works best with shrimp that are on the larger size. I used JUMBO or XL. With Jumbo Shrimp there are about 21-25 per pound. For XL shrimp, about 15 – 20 per pound. You’ll need to peel and devein them and if you need help with that, I have a handy guide.
CAJUN SEASONING: You can use your favorite seasoning blend or make your own DIY Cajun Seasoning.
OLIVE OIL: To mix with the shrimp and Cajun seasoning.
LEMON JUICE: Adds a bit of acidity and pairs very well with seafood.
PARSLEY: For garnish and a pop of color but totally optional.
Step by Step Photos and Instructions:
One of the things that makes this dish so fast to make is that shrimp cooks really fast. Depending on the size of the shrimp, they will take about 6 – 8 minutes. Smaller shrimp will take less time and if you get particularly large shrimp, they will take a little bit longer.
Combine shrimp, cajun seasoning and olive oil together in a bowl. Let marinate for 20 – 30 minutes. Place in a single layer on a prepared baking sheet. Broil until cooked through. Transfer to a serving platter. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with parsley.
STEP #1: Place peeled and deveined shrimp in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and cajun seasoning. Toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 20 – 30 minutes.
STEP #2: Preheat the oven broiler. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
STEP #3: Lay shrimp in a single layer on prepared baking sheet. Place in oven and cook 6 – 8 minutes or until opaque and cooked through. It won’t take long. Don’t overcook the shrimp or they will become rubbery.
STEP #4: Transfer shrimp to a serving platter. Squeeze lemon over the top. Serve with additional lemon slices, melted butter and/or cocktail sauce.
Storage and Leftovers:
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and use within a couple of days. Reheating shrimp can cause them to become a bit rubbery but cold cajun shrimp makes a great addition to salads!
Shrimp is one of my absolute favorite proteins to cook with. Here are some of our favorite shrimp recipes:
