Easy Pepperoni Pizza Crostini made with crostini, pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. These appetizer bites are perfect for parties and game days.
We LOVE pizza around here. Whether we’re having traditional pizza with homemade pizza dough, grilled pizza or Pizza Dip. Pizza is hands down one of our favorites. But when we’re short on time, want a little pizza snack or need something for parties these Pepperoni Pizza Crostini are everything.
If you are looking for an easy appetizer for your next party or get together, these Pizza Crostini are exactly what you need. They come together quickly, are easy to customize to your own liking and they are always a crowd pleaser. And you can make as many or as little as you like. Want a little snack of 2 or 3? You can do that! Need 50 for a party? Quadruple the recipe. This really is the perfect party recipe!
Let’s talk about what you’ll need to make them:
Pepperoni Pizza Crostini Ingredients:
For these pepperoni pizza crostini, you’ll only need a handful of ingredients.
CROSTINI: You can buy small slices of crostini or you can simply buy a baguette and slice it yourself. It might be less expensive that way.
GARLIC: Rubbing garlic on toasted crostini adds a subtle garlic flavor.
PIZZA SAUCE: I used homemade pizza sauce when I made these but you can use your favorite store-bought pizza sauce if you don’t want to make your own.
MOZZARELLA: It is best to shred the cheese yourself, it will melt better than the pre-shredded stuff.
PEPPERONI: You can dice up pepperoni slices or pepperoni pieces for this. I prefer to use a chub of pepperoni that I dice into small pieces.
DRIED OREGANO: To sprinkle over the finished pizza bites.
Step by Step Photos and Instructions:
Making these Pepperoni Pizza Crostini could not be easier to make. Follow along with these step by step photos and instructions.
STEP #1: Place crostini (or baguette slices) on a baking sheet. Put under the broiler and broil for 1 minute or just until lightly toasted.
STEP #2: Remove the crostini from the broiler. Rub with garlic clove.
STEP #3: Spread about 1 teaspoon of sauce on each slice of crostini.
STEP #4: Top each bite with a little bit of mozzarella. About 1 tablespoon or so.
STEP #5: Top each bite with diced pepperoni. Place under the broiler and broil for 1 – 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Sprinkle with dried oregano and serve.
Storage and Leftovers:
Pizza Crostini are best when eaten immediately. However, they do reheat well if you pop them under the broiler for another minute or so. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
Variations:
Like with regular pizza, Pizza Crostini are open to endless variations. If you use vegetables, it is best to cook them a bit beforehand. They won’t have enough time to cook under the broiler.

Lay the baguette slices in a single layer on the cookie sheet. Cook under the broiler for about 1 minute. Just until they are slightly toasted.
Once they are toasted, rub each slice with the clove of garlic. Return to the oven and broil for 1-2 more minutes or until they turn slightly brown.
Using about a teaspoon of sauce, spread sauce over the toast. Layer with cheese and then pepperoni. Repeat until all baguette slices are complete. Put under the broiler until cheese melts.
Notes
I used the middle oven rack when making these. If the slices are closer to the broiler, they will cook faster so keep an eye on them. Nutrition information for estimation purposes only.
I use canned chopped tomatoes, your recipe says canned tomato sauce, do you mean the juice from tin tomatoes or another kind of sauce. Sorry, I am in the UK so we just might be talking about the same thing, I’m not sure!
Delicous recipe anyway. (I rub a garlic clove onto my bread before adding the sauce and cheese).
Wonderful, thanks for sharing.

You’re welcome Moniqueues! In the US we have canned tomato sauce which is a puree of tomatoes so its a little different than juice from the tin. I would think that it would yield a little bit thicker sauce than chopped tomatoes, but I think the chopped tomatoes would add a nice texture. I’ll have to try that next time.
Hi finsmom! You’re right about making these for a sports evening, I made them for my husband and his friends during our super bowl party and they were gone in a flash!
Hi Travelingmcmahans! I too am trying to not eat as much packaged food as I once did, and I am finding that I can make some great things just by experimenting in the kitchen. Thanks for the comments!

February 10, 2009 at 3:53 amGreat idea to do this with baguettes! One thing I miss from my packaged-food days is bagel bites — I’ll definitely give this a try.
