This quick air fryer broccoli will make an easy addition to any weeknight meal. Seasoned with sesame oil for an Asian inspired twist!
If you’re like me you’re always looking for new ways to use your air fryer and new ways to get your family to eat vegetables. Both of those problems are solved with this easy Air Fryer Broccoli Recipe.
With just a handful of ingredients and 10 minutes in your air fryer, you’ll have an easy dinner side dish that the whole family will love. Trust me, my kiddos who aren’t the biggest of broccoli fans gobble this up every time!
BROCCOLI: 3 fresh broccoli heads chopped into florets. I like to keep the stems a little long too too but that is a personal preference.
SESAME OIL: This gives this broccoli an asian flavor twist. You don’t need a lot, just enough to help the broccoli get a little browned and crispy when its air frying. If you don’t want that simply use olive oil instead, the technique will be the same!
CANOLA OIL
GRANULATED GARLIC: You can substitute garlic powder if needed. If you substitute garlic salt, omit the additional salt in the recipe.
SALT
SESAME SEEDS: Added after cooking for a little more crunch.
UMAMI POWDER: This is 100% optional but I love it. It is made from shiitaki mushrooms and adds an unbelievable savory taste to the broccoli. I use this brand. A little goes a long way so it’s not something that you’ll need to buy often. Trader Joes also makes a version with just a tad more oniony flavor.
It could really not be any easier!
STEP #1: Combine all of the ingredients, except sesame seeds, together in a bowl. Toss the broccoli so that it is completely coated.
STEP #2: Place the broccoli in the air fryer basket and roast at 375 for 10 minutes. Remove and shake the basket halfway through. If you want it a bit crispier cook for an additional 2 – 3 minutes.
DES’ TIP: Unlike other air fryer recipes, no need to make sure the broccoli is in a single layer. You can cook it all at once which makes this recipe even easier!
STEP #3: Remove from the air fryer, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.
SEE! How easy is that? Now of course, this air fryer broccoli has a slight Asian twist with the sesame oil, seeds and umami but that is just a twist. You could essentially make this recipe with any kind of flavor you want: cajun, ranch, simple salt and pepper. Whatever suits your fancy, the technique will be the same!
I just love recipes like this!
