Baked Buffalo Wings are a must make for any game day celebration! They are crispy, smothered in spicy sauce and guaranteed to be a hit.
When it comes to Game Day eats, what is the one thing you think of? Is it the chips and dips? Maybe it’s the melty queso or seven layer dip. But if you’re going to ask, I bet the most popular response you get is Chicken Wings. Chicken wings are a game day staple. And for good reason. They are crispy, sometimes spicy and great finger food.
Traditionally chicken wings are fried, but I’ve found that they get just as crispy if you bake them. Plus baking them also makes them easier to make and you’ll have less of a mess. It’s a total win.
Let’s talk about everything you’ll need to make them:
Ingredients you’ll need:
CHICKEN WINGS: When it comes to making chicken wings, I like to buy the “party wings”. They are wings that have already been separated so you don’t have to do it. If you can’t find them, you can break down the wings yourself. This video shows you how.
OIL: This will help the wings crisp up in the oven.
CORNSTARCH: This is my secret weapon to help get really crispy chicken wings.
GRANULATED GARLIC/SALT/PEPPER: A simple seasoning blend for the wings. If you don’t have granulated garlic, you can use garlic powder. If you use garlic salt, omit the additional salt.
FRANK’S RED HOT: Or other cayenne pepper sauce of your choice.
BUTTER: This will help thicken the sauce and make it buttery and rich.
How to Bake Buffalo Wings with Step by Step Photos and Instructions:
Making buffalo wings in the oven is really easy! You just need to season, bake and then coat in the sauce. Follow along with these step by step photos and instructions:
STEP #1: Place a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
STEP #2: Place the chicken wings in a bowl. Drizzle with oil. Sprinkle with granulated garlic, salt, pepper and cornstarch. Toss the wings to coat completely.
STEP #3: Place the wings in a single layer on top of the cooling rack on the baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and turn the wings. Bake for another 15 – 20 minutes or until the wings are browned and crispy.
STEP #4: While the wings are cooking heat butter and hot sauce in a small pan over medium heat. Whisk together until it’s smooth and combined.
STEP #5: After wings are finished cooking, place in a wings in a large bowl. Pour the sauce over the top and toss the wings to coat. Serve immediately. And don’t forget the Creamy Ranch Dip!
Storage and Leftovers:
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and eat within three days. You can reheat in the oven at 325 until warmed through. They won’t be as saucy because the sauce will cook on the wings. But they will still be tasty!
Like I said, these Baked Buffalo Wings are a classic and sure to be the hit of your next game day celebration!
When it comes to wings, they are kind of my specialty. I’ve got several recipes for you to try, here are a few fan favorites:

Notes
Please note that depending on the fattiness of the wings, you might see some smoking while they are cooking. This happens to me from time to time. Just keep the kitchen fan on. Nutrition information for estimation purposes only.
I receive your recipes in my mail. I like to print out the recipes for a more convenient time in the kitchen. I use strictly a 8 1/2 x 11 format with a photo that I can put on my magnetic board as I cook. If I can not fit the entire recipe with Nutrition info (I’m diabetic) on one sheet of paper, I do not use it. I have used a great number of your recipes over the years. Today I find myself frustrated that I can’t copy and paste your recipe photo (Baked Buffalo Wings). I don’t remember if I’ve had this problem before, but I will unsubscribe if this is the norm.
Hi Frank! I appreciate your subscribing! It seems default was set to print without the image (although you could select it to print with the image). I’ve made the change so now the default is to print with the image. I hope this helps!!
