This Baked Ravioli Recipe is the easy weeknight recipe you need in your life. You only need five ingredients to get this cheesy, hearty meal on the table.
Between work, school, sports and activities, the week can get busy. That means that sometimes it is hard to get dinner on the table. Not anymore. Not with this baked ravioli recipe in your arsenal.
You only need a handful of ingredients. And trust me when I say that your family is going to love all of the saucy, cheesy goodness that is this pasta.
And you’re going to love how few ingredients you need and just how incredibly easy it is to put together.
Ingredients you’ll need:
FROZEN CHEESE RAVIOLI: I prefer to use cheese ravioli in this recipe. It’s what my kiddos love too. You can substitute your favorite frozen filled ravioli.
MARINARA SAUCE: To help make this recipe even easier I use store-bought marinara sauce for this recipe.
MOZZARELLA: This is the ingredient that I don’t cut corners on, I highly recommend shredding the mozzarella yourself for this recipe. I find that it tastes better and melts better than the pre-shredded stuff.
PARMESAN CHEESE: You’ll also want to grate this yourself.
BASIL: Chopped fresh basil adds color and sweet basil flavor. It’s the perfect garnish for this pasta.
Step by Step Instructions and Photos:
Baked Ravioli is so easy to make. Follow along with these step by step photos and instructions showing you how.
STEP #1: Spread some of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a 13×9 casserole dish. Place half of the ravioli on top in a single layer.
STEP #2: Spread half of the mozzarella on top and repeat layers.
STEP #3: Cover and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 20 minutes or until edges are bubbly and cheese is melty.
STEP #4: Top with shredded parmesan and chopped basil. Serve.
Storage and Leftovers:
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and eat within 3 days. Reheat for a minute or two in the microwave.
Like I mentioned above, my family loved this baked ravioli. And I loved that it was so incredibly easy to put together. It is so cheesy, saucy and hearty AND it made our busy weeknight much easier. I call that a win!
Recipe FAQ:
Do you have to thaw frozen ravioli before baking?
Nope! No thawing needed for this recipe.
Why not use pre-shredded cheese?
I rarely, if ever, use pre-shredded cheese. This is because to prevent the cheese from clumping, anti-caking agents are added. This impacts how well cheese melts. You will have better taste and texture if you shred your own cheese from a block.
