A French 75 is a classic Champagne cocktail. With gin, champagne and lemon juice it is a bright bubbly drink that is perfect for celebrating!
If you’re looking for an elegant cocktail to celebrate just about anything: weddings, anniversaries, holidays, you name it, this French 75 Cocktail should be at the top of your list. It’s light, fresh and bubbly. And is the perfect way to say cheers.
The French 75 Cocktail dates back to the first World War. It got its name from the 75mm Howitzer Field Gun used by the French and Americans during the war. When it comes to flavor, this cocktail is very similar to a Tom Collins only instead of club soda, this drink has Champagne.
Which I think, makes it a bit more fun!
CHAMPAGNE: Prosecco would work just as well I think!
GIN: Use whichever is your favorite!
LEMON JUICE: Fresh squeezed is going to be the best.
LEMON PEEL: A lemon peel twist is the classic garnish of a French 75.
SIMPLE SYRUP: To add a touch of sweetness.
ICE
You’ll need a cocktail shaker for this recipe but other than that no special equipment needed! It’s really easy to make!
In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine lemon juice, gin and simple syrup. Shake until cold, about 20 seconds. Pour mixture into a champagne flute. Top with champagne and a lemon twist. Serve.
