Ingredients

Ingredients:

1/2 pound lean ground beef or ground turkey
1/2 onion diced
1 garlic clove minced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt plus more to taste
1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper plus more to taste
1 green bell pepper diced
1 jalapeno diced
1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
1 15 ounce can kidney beans, drained
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
4 hot dogs
4 hot dog buns
shredded cheddar cheese
chopped onion if desired

Instructions

In a skillet cook ground beef, onion, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt and 1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper. Once meat is browned, transfer to colander . Reserve 1 teaspoon pan drippings.
In the same skillet, cook green bell pepper and jalapeno in reserved pan drippings for 3 minutes until slightly softened. Return ground beef mixture to the pan. Add remaining ingredients, stir to combine. Bring to a bowl. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Cook hot dogs according to package directions.
Place hot dog in bun, spoon hot chili over the top. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and onions. Serve.
